Product Description
A great Easter activity for students learning to convert between the US customary length units.

Objective: This activity tests students on converting between inches, feet, yards, and miles.

Standard: This puzzle is aligned with the following fifth grade common core standard:

CCSS.Math.Content.5.MD.A.1—Convert among different sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system.

To complete the puzzle the students must match up the equivalent US customary length units. For example, one piece will say 24 in, and the students will have to match it up with a piece that says 2 ft.

Six versions of the puzzle are included, each with a varying number of Easter eggs/bunnies. The first two versions contain four eggs/bunniesand is the easiest because it provides the most help to students. The second two versions contain 9 eggs/bunnies, providing less help for students. The third two versions contain a egg/bunny on each piece. In these versions, the graphics do not aid the students in constructing the 4 x 4 grid.

Directions: Print out the gameboard on cardstock and have it laminated . Cut out the sixteen pieces and pass them out to individual students or to a group of students. The students must match up the equivalent units to complete the 4 x 4 Grid.

What has been successful for us is to give points for correctly completing the puzzle, and extra credit points for the first few groups that finish. The Roman numerals are there so that you can quickly check for accuracy.
