Page 5: How Well Do You Know Your Teacher?… This is a fun activity that helps students get to know you, the teacher. Ask students to fill in their guesses. I take up the papers because I enjoy looking at students’ guesses before they have an opportunity to change them. Then, discuss the answers.

Pages 16-18: Sort-Trade-Sort: A Fun and Active “Get to Know You” Game… Students will work together to collect all of the cards needed to complete their game boards. They will cooperate and learn about one another during this fun game!

Pages 19-20: Crack the 5th Grade Code!… Everyone has ideas about how to be successful in 5th grade. Your group will create and crack codes while learning some tips for success in the 5th grade.

Pages 21-22: Friendship Puzzle… I love doing this activity with my fifth graders because they not only discuss ways to be a great friend… They usually make a new friend in the process!

Pages 23-24: Interview a Classmate…This fun activity will allow your students to make new friends and practice with communication, i.e. speaking in front of a group.

Pages 25-35: “Fifth Grade Faces” Garland… Your students will make a fun garland for display in the classroom by decorating a face and writing some information about themselves.
