The focus of this activity is for students to recognize the attributes that they would like to experience in a good friend. Through collaborative groups this activity provides students the opportunity to analyze multimedia, graphics and charts to determine the attributes of a good friend. The student reflection leads them to ponder which of these attributes they display and which attributes should they work on in order to build healthy relationships. This activity could be planned for a 45 minute class time or broken up into multiple shorter activities for a week focus.
This lesson is the first in a unit on Building Relationships. The next suggested lesson, "Make Diverse Friends", pushes this topic further by providing students with the insight into how to continue to build healthy relationships and make diverse friendships.
