This is a lesson that I prepared and completed with my students as a review and wrap-up for our geometry unit. At the time, my school was in competition for a grant through Wells Fargo for incorporating the arts into education (ArtsNOW program). My students were observed by the president of Wells Fargo and a team of other WF employees and school administrators for portions of the lesson. They were continually active and engaged. This took my 90-minute math block to complete. The lesson incorporates movement, visual arts, collaboration, and cooperation. Students first use their bodies to create lines and shapes, then analyze the same concepts in photographs of dancers posing. The lesson plan comes with 6 dance photographs for you to print, laminate, and use for the activity. It is also fully editable, so you can change the standards to match your district. Make this plan your own to incorporate your materials and meet the needs of your students!
