Created as a way to spiral the Common Core Math Curriculum, these calendar pieces support students in practicing multiple concepts throughout the month. This month includes the concepts of multiplying by powers of 10, finding and extending a pattern based on a given rule, converting units of time, identifying and describing attributes of 2D shapes. They can use the patterns found to create coordinate pairs and graph them. Dates are also color coded for prime and composite. Students may complete these activities as independent work or collaborative learning opportunities during Math Workshop or Guided Math. Instructions for setting up student notebooks as well as graphic organizers and support posters needed are included. Using these calendar pieces will give students multiple opportunities for practice and increase the retention rate for these concepts. They will also help you have an easy and thoroughly planned way to keep multiple math concepts active in your classroom. From Julie Nelson of Nelson-Bonn LLC.
