Created as a way to spiral the Common Core Math Curriculum, these calendar pieces support students in practicing multiple concepts throughout the month. This month includes the concepts that will give students a head start on sixth grade: dividing fractions using models, finding Greatest Common Fractors and Least Common Multiples, and fractions of a set or whole. Students may complete these activities as independent work or collaborative learning opportunities during Math Workshop or Guided Math. Instructions for setting up student notebooks as well as graphic organizers and support posters needed are included. Using these calendar pieces will give students multiple opportunities for practice and increase the retention rate for these concepts. They will also help you have an easy and thoroughly planned way to keep multiple math concepts active in your classroom. From Julie Nelson of Nelson-Bonn LLC.
