### Description

5th Grade Math Review that is rigorous, engaging, and incorporates depths of knowledge skills and higher level thinking. This resource covers all the 5th grade common core math standards.

I am always on a mission to create resources that are engaging and standards based. My students love reviewing standards in a variety of ways. This resource is perfect for review because of its versatility and the differing levels of thinking that it requires.

Each standard (a few are grouped together) has four tasks. The tasks are:

Define It: a list of two to five terms are listed for the students to define
Practice It: this task requires the students to apply their knowledge to answer 2-6 practice problems
Create It: this task is a bit more complicated and the students have to apply their knowledge to create a task, number, word problem, etc. based on the standard
Explain It: this task requires the most thinking and requires the students to explain their thinking or explain some aspect of the math skill

These tasks are available in full size version and a “four tasks to a page” version. Some of the standards have a few different versions you can use. For example, 5.MD.1 has a metric conversion “Practice It” task and a standard conversion “Practice It” task.

Answer keys are only included with the “Practice It” tasks due to the nature of the other tasks.

These math review tasks could be used in a variety of ways:
Around the Room Activity: Divide your students into four groups (or eight groups and make double copies of each task). Post the tasks around the room. Have your students rotate around with a piece of paper or the recording sheets and record their response to the tasks.
Interactive Notebook Resource: Print the “four tasks to a page” version. Have your students glue the tasks to their interactive notebooks. They can glue the top part only and record their responses under the task or on the task itself. They could also glue one task per paper and write their responses beneath the task on the notebook paper.
Math Centers: Print the “four tasks to a page” version on colored card stock and use it as center activity. You could place the cards in a bag or even place it on a ring for easy storage.
