These documents will help you and your students stay organized when producing their opinion piece. Students will brainstorm their topic, create reasons for and against, and then decide on the 3 best reasons that would persuade their audience by using the weak vs. strong organizer. Then students will have a day or two to research their topic and find evidence to support their reasons. From their, they will begin to compose their essay. My students did an introduction, 3 paragraphs for the body (one for each reason), a counterargument paragraph, and the conclusion. I used the O.R.E.O strategy with them when constructing their paragraphs.
E- Evidence to support your reason
O- Opinion restated.
