This is a comprehensive study guide on Matter and Its Properties that was written for Scott Foresman's 5th Grade Science (Diamond Edition). While it was definitely designed to be paired with the text, it would also serve as a great guide for researching matter with any other sources as well.
The four lessons include properties of matter, how atoms combine, how phase changes occur, and mixtures/solution. It is actually a great introduction to our physical world. Each lesson contains vocabulary, key terms, research questions, and an essential question that would be perfect for using as essays on a matter assessment. I also use the essays for writing preparation during Language Arts instruction.
The zipped file includes the research guide, the same research guide with page numbers where the answers can be found in the book, and a thorough answer key.
