Description

Multiplying and Dividing by Powers of 10 'Clip and Flip' Cards for 5th grade contains 72 self-correcting cards to help students practice multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals by powers of 10 (using exponents to denote powers of 10).

These task cards were designed to specifically support Common Core standard 5.NBT.A.2: Explain patterns in the number of zeros of the product when multiplying a number by powers of 10, and explain patterns in the placement of the decimal point when a decimal is multiplied or divided by a power of 10. Use whole-number exponents to denote powers of 10.

These cards can be differentiated so that students of all levels can work their way through them. Here's what's included:

• Converting powers of 10 written in exponential form to standard form
• Converting powers of 10 written in standard form to exponential form
• Converting multiplication and division equations written with the power of 10 in exponential form into multiplication and division equations written with the power of 10 in standard form
• Solving multiplication and division equations written with powers of 10 in exponential form (half of these cards include only whole numbers and half of these cards include decimals)

On top of being aligned to the standards and differentiated, these Multiplying and Dividing by Powers of 10 'Clip and Flip' Cards are so simple for students to use! Students use clothespins or paper clips to clip the answer to the question on the card. Then, they flip over the card to check their answer.

Included with these 5th Grade Multiplying and Dividing by Powers of 10 'Clip and Flip' Cards:
• Instructions for single player and multi-player use
• 72 'Clip and Flip' cards
