5th Grade Science Test Prep Escape Challenge: Category 1 (TEKS)
Are you ready to change the way you review for the Texas standardized test in 5th grade Science?
Have you been wanting to find a content-rich escape challenge for your classroom?
This powerpoint escape challenge is easy to use and ready to go! Just set up the power point show on the device(s) that you want to use for the escape challenge, and let students begin!
This test prep escape challenge has six critical thinking challenges to prep your students for the big test. Each challenge is written similar to released test questions so your students will have practice thinking through challenging questions. They are set up in fun ways to make them feel like they are playing an escape game.
This can be played in groups, individually, or as a class. A paper version is provided in case you want to set it up as rotations around the room. The paper version is great for use as task cards, centers, or stations.
The big challenge in this escape game is to rescue Batkid, your classroom super hero, from the Evil Professor Trickster' s jail.
You could even use this in your tutoring or RTI groups!
An instruction document is provided with printables for student thinking sheets, completion badges, and super hero rewards.
This Category 1 Test Prep Escape Challenge follows the following standards.
Grade 5 (5.5)
(A)classify matter based on physical properties, including mass, magnetism, physical state (solid, liquid, and gas), relative density (sinking and floating), solubility in water, and the ability to conduct or insulate thermal energy or electric energy; Readiness Standard
(B) identify the boiling and freezing/melting points of water on the Celsius scale; Supporting Standard
(C) demonstrate that some mixtures maintain physical properties of their ingredients such as iron filings and sand; and Supporting Standard
(D) identify changes that can occur in the physical properties of the ingredients of solutions such as dissolving salt in water or adding lemon juice to water.
Supporting Standard
Grade 3 (3.5)
(C) predict, observe, and record changes in the state of matter caused by heating or cooling. Supporting Standard
This is an engaging way to prep your class for the 5th Grade Science STAAR test!
Clicking through the power point show, in the format of a game, is easy and entertaining. This is a great tool for incorporating technology into your classroom.
