Looking for a way to make your Science SOL review more engaging? These centers are designed to allow students to demonstrate their knowledge of the 4th and 5th grade Science SOLs in a variety of ways.

-Flower Power (SOL 4.4: Plant Vocabulary & Parts of a Flower)- Students draw and label a flower. Then, they quiz each other using the flower vocabulary cards provided.

-Cellular Comparisons (SOL 5.5 :Cells)- Students use two hula hoops as an over-sized Venn Diagram. They sort the animal and plant cell descriptor cards and then copy their diagram onto paper.

-Box it In (Multiple 5th Grade SOLS)- Students fold chart paper into sixths and work as a team to complete the assigned activities. Here are the first two boxes:

Box 1 Draw a vascular plant. Explain how you know that it is an example of a vascular plant.

Box 2 Draw and label the following parts of a light wave (crest, trough, wavelength).

The fourth station could be used as either a teacher station for remediation, or as a work station for students to complete an independent assessment.
