These 2 image-filled worksheets focus on the concept of V = B x h. Students should understand that volume can be calculated by finding the the number of unit cubes in one layer, then multiplying that quantity by the number of layers (height). Keys are provided.
Adding One More Layer Volume Worksheet - This worksheet includes many pictures designed to reinforce that concept that V = B × h for rectangular prisms to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with whole-number edge lengths. Students must calculate the given volume, then take it a step further by calculating the value if one more layer was added on top of the existing layers.
How Many Layers Worksheet? - This worksheet also includes many images designed to reinforce that concept that volume is a calculation of the Area of the base times the number of layers tall. Volumes are provided but only one layer of cubes is shown. Students must calculate the number of cubes in one layer, then figure out how many layers are needed in order to reach the given volume.
