Don't let the benefits of test corrections escape your classroom! This sheet can be used for ANY SUBJECT, ANY GRADE, ANY ASSIGNMENT. Whether you award half-credit for newly correct answers (like I occasionally did), or whether you just want students to see gaps in their learning and trends in their test-taking errors -- this guide can help your students take ownership over their own assessments as it connects to their understanding.
1) Once students have received their test (or quiz) scores, give them a Test Corrections Sheet so that they can compare their answer to the correct answer, and actually think through why they missed it and what they're missing. (I have supplied some possible reasons for missing; feel free to change or delete as you need to.)
2) You may also choose to use this sheet BEFORE students are given the correct answers. So, if you do a quick assessment, you might just "X" the number of anything that's incorrect and then let students make a second choice BEFORE you reveal the correct answers to the whole class.
Re-think the way you grade assessments in your classroom and see growth in student test-taking thoughtfulness!
If your students know the specific CCSS standards for each question on the test, you might want to add a box for the standard so that you (and they) can see which standards might be most problematic to them.
