The story of Joshua is a story that is integrally important to our lives today as Christians. It is a story that we can all relate to. Joshua’s story is our story. He finds himself attempting to lead a nation and live in a Godly way in an enemy land. We can directly identify with his struggles to keep his fellow Israelites pure and to keep himself pure.
These lessons will allow you to teach the book of Joshua to middle school students (and even higher), but will allow you to do so much more! Rather than just teaching the story, these lesson plans will help you to apply the lessons in Joshua to your students' lives!
This six lesson series has a firm foundation in the text and in historical study. It is based upon three summers worth of research and teaching that I have done in the book of Joshua. While it is grounded firmly in the text and in history, I have done my best to keep these details from interfering with the flow of the lesson plan, choosing to insert them into the lesson as a sidebar or simply include these facts at the conclusion of the lesson.
Each lesson includes discussion questions as well as an introduction section as an aid for the teacher. I recommend, to best execute this lesson series, that you as the teacher first read the text that is covered (marked under the lesson number in the top right hand corner of the first page of each lesson) and then proceed to read through the lesson plan, tailoring it to your own personal style and tastes.
Each Lesson Includes:
- Lesson Objectives to Keep you on Target
- Discussion Questions
- Key Story Points
- Historical Information
- Conclusions for Lesson
Also included is a section at the back of each lesson with extra information if you want to know more about things mentioned in the lesson!
