This resource is part of a series of vest displays designed to complement existing Animated Step-by-Steps® . This resource uses Picture Communication Symbols (Tobii/Dynavox)
Vest Displays are a great way to add visual and symbol support to simple songs and stories used during Circle Time. A vest display is typically worn on a velcro-receptive apron or vest and has the advantage of simplifying joint attention by presenting communication content in line with the Facilitator’s face.
The illustrations required for the scene, manipulatives and symbol lines are included in this resource. Another resource called Guidelines for Constructing Vest Displays is also available and provides more indepth information on vest display construction.
6 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed is a great resource for working on counting and number concepts. It can also be used to address the pronouns HIS / HER.
As each monkey falls out of bed, the fallen monkey can be assigned to a student, only to be ‘called back in’ at the end of the activity. “Who as monkey number 3?” Who has the monkey with the pink number?”
A second set of monkey bodies is included to allow you to velcro photo faces of your students to the bodies to perform a variation of the song, Six Little Kiddies Jumping on the Bed.
