Great Back to School Activity for the first week. Included in this packet is a blank grid, a sample poem using The Boston Tea Party as inspiration, a student example - third grade, desert theme - and the final copy paper on which to write the poem.
6 Room Poetry is five senses writing at its finest. Each room represents one of the five senses, what do you "see", what do you "hear", etc. This can be used across the curriculum in any subject and can be done as an entire class to start. Have the students suggest ideas for each room based on whatever theme or concept is being taught. The final copy is a 5-6 paragraph style poem. I have the students illustrate the theme in the boxes provided on both sides. A detailed description of what to write in each box is provided in small print at the top of each box.
