This offering is a six puzzle package five puzzles centering about Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, the sixth about Shakespeare, himself. I wrote three of the puzzles a couple years ago, a traditional crossword, a character search, and an arithmetical essay about Shakespeare. (If you DID buy the previous set of puzzles I DO have the new three puzzle set for sale individually on my TpT Jay Waggoner site.) This package consists of the three new puzzles I've written in re The Merchant of Venice. It is July of 2017 for those who bought the The Merchant of Venice puzzles from me previously. With my crossword puzzles I have had some "complaints" that there are not enough theme clues in them. It's very difficult to put too many more than 6 or 7 themed clues in a 15 x15 grid and follow a couple of the "rules" of crossword constructing (180 degree symmetry and no two letter words), so I've made up what I call a "fake-crossword" consisting of 20 questions/clues whereby each of the clues has something to do with The Merchant of Venice. I think you will find it more helpful in the classroom . . . though I like the peripheral things that you learn in a standard crossword myself. Another of the puzzles is a word search wherein the student searches for 18 of the somewhat antiquated words that Shakespeare uses in The Merchant of Venice. I HAVE given definitions of all 18 words in the list of words/expressions I'm asking the puzzle-doer to find. A third puzzle is another vocabulary puzzle . . . a matching template with two columns, words and brief definitions. The vocabulary words are words that Shakespeare uses in The Merchant of Venice that have slightly different meanings than what we use today. I believe all six puzzles can be very helpful yet fun in the classroom.
