Asking students to compress a ton of information in a limited space or format taps into their creativity. In this project/assessment, students must make an argument for what caused the Civil War and they must present evidence to support their contention.
The catch: their argument must be made in 60 seconds. This format forces students to think historically and communicate pointedly.
Links to resources and a rubric are included in the document, as is a graphic organizer, which can help scaffold the task for students.
