This activity addresses common core standard for 6th grade 6.EE.A.2b. This activity allows students to identify parts of an expression: variables, constants, coefficients, # of terms, and the like terms. This is a great activity for students to do prior to learning to simplify expressions by combining like terms. There is a student answer sheet with 12 boxes to record the answers to the expressions. There are many ways to use this activity, independently, as groups with a set of expressions that rotate, or you could post them around the room and have pairs of students move around the room. There is also a copy of the student answer sheet with the expressions already filled in. This is great to have for students that were absent so they can complete the activity with out having to give the expression cards. As always, I do use these items in my own classroom and I have checked for errors, but if you find any please let me know so it can be corrected.
