Scavenger hunts are a great way to get your kids out of their seats and actively engaged! This is a two-track scavenger hunt, perfect for differentiating to your different levels of learners. The first track has greatest common factor problems with numbers up to 50 and least common multiple problems with numbers up to 10. The second track has problems with larger numbers and includes the type of distributive property problems described in the common core standard 6.NS.4.
The teacher posts the 20 included cards around the room in any order. Students are assigned a track based on their ability level. Starting at a card on their assigned track, they solve it on the included recording sheet, and then search for the answer on the corner of one of the other cards. This is the card they must work on next. The goal is to figure out the correct order of all 10 cards on their track! Students are able to work at their own pace and may also choose to work alone or with a partner. Once students finish the first track, hand them a new recording sheet and they can work on track 2!
