Using Rachael Ray as an engaging theme, students will be given questions about fractional amounts in a recipe. This PowerPoint is to be used after students have practiced modeling dividing fractions with pictures. (check out my Modeling Dividing Fractions Practice Sheet)
Students will first have to think logically about the first 6 recipe questions. Once finished, the PPT goes back over those 6 problems with viewing/introducing them as division problems.
There are twelve practice math problems that scaffold students step by step in how to solve dividing fraction problems with equivalent fractions INSTEAD OF the standard algorithm.
