Whether state-mandated or a school district initiative, assessment of student knowledge is necessary. Regardless of our opinions, teachers need to prepare students for cumulative examinations. Having the right tools is imperative, and a teacher typically is always in search of the right one. The lesson plans and activities for Common Core standards are plentiful, but finding multiple choice assessment questions for each standard can be an intense quest.
In this document you will find 20 multiple-choice word problems for the 6th grade Number System standards 5, 6 and 7. The problems are divided into easy, medium and hard categories based upon rigor. The “hard” problems include standards from previous grade levels and/or other 6th grade standards.
To allow for flexibility in how you choose to use these questions in your classroom, the problems are not numbered. The problems can be moved into documents you create using the old-fashioned “cut-and-paste” method or an electronic snipping tool. The authors of this document will be using these questions for spiraled review in warm-ups, classroom assessments/chapter tests, and state-mandated preparation. Although these problems address sixth grade standards, they can be used in Pre-AP/advanced fifth grade classrooms and for seventh grade review.
These problems are intended for your classroom use and can be duplicated for your students only.
