Product Description
Use this NO PREP resource to give your students targeted practice on 6th grade Common Core or LAFS Reading: Literature standard 7

This particular Continuous Improvement Model (CIM) addresses CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.6.7: Compare and contrast the experience of reading a story, drama, or poem to listening to or viewing an audio, video, or live version of the text, including contrasting what they “see” and “hear” when reading the text to what they perceive when they listen or watch.

You can save some money by purchasing this CIM as a part of my 6th grade CIM lessons super bundle:
6th Grade ALL Common Core Reading Standards Super Bundle

→Important note: Because of how the state of Florida altered their standards (to become the LAFS), this resource IS appropriate for the LAFS as well. It aligns to LAFS.6.RL.3.9.

The questions in this CIM asked are by no means exhaustive of the variety of questions that could be asked from this standard, but it is a starting point for instruction and determining which students need intervention with this standard and concept.

Lesson 1 uses an excerpt from Rudyard Kipling’s short story, “Rikki Tikki Tavi”. Lesson 2 uses the Edgar Allen Poe poem, “Eldorado.” Lesson 3 uses “The Lion and the Mouse,” an Aesop fable. All three passages are appropriate for 6th grade students based on a variety of reading calculators. All passages are in the public domain. All audio recordings are done by Mad Eye Moody Productions, and therefore, are copyrighted and not for commercial use or use outside the purchasing teacher’s classroom.

Each lesson is meant to take less than 10 minutes. You may find that depending on your students you may have to break lessons 1 and 2 into 2 separate days each.

Included in this document are 1) pages to display questions with answer choices and questions without answer choices, depending how you choose to teach, 2) the excerpts for each day to display, and 3) the lesson scripts for the 3 lessons. The student pages are in separate files.

Lesson 1:
“I Do”
Demonstrate the process with your students, showing them how to determine the correct answers for the correct reasons. This lesson has 3 questions.

Lesson 2:
