RI.6.9 says students should, "Compare and contrast one author's presentation of events with that of another (e.g., a memoir written by and a biography on the same person)."

Informational Passages #1 and #2
Two passages about the final game of the 2016 professional basketball championship series between Cleveland and Golden State. One is written by a Cleveland fan. The other is written by a Golden State fan. They are 689 words and 724 words. They are written at a sixth-grade reading level.

Venn Diagram
Students must compare and contrast the way a Cleveland fan wrote about the game with the way a Golden State fan described the game.

Writing Prompt
Students are asked to write a response to passages 1 and 2. It requires them to analyze the differences in the way each author described the game.

Quiz Over Passages 1 and 2
Includes 4 multiple-choice questions and 1 short-answer question. All questions correlate to RI.6.9 and match the rigor of the standard without being confusing for students.

The following are provided as bonus resources to help you assess or reteach RI.6.9:

Informational Passages #3 and #4
Two passages about the college football championship between Clemson and Alabama played in January 2017 (the one Clemson won). One is written by an Alabama fan. The other is written by a Clemson fan. They are 616 words and 715 words. They are written at a sixth-grade reading level.

Quiz Over Passages 3 and 4
Includes three multiple-choice questions and two short-answer questions. All questions correlate to RI.6.9 and match the rigor of the standard without being confusing for students.

An answer key is included for both quizzes and the Venn Diagram.
