Here at The Bryar Patch, I value having students interact with the notes instead of just copying down how to do math problems. The resource is filled with pages students can place in their interactive notebook. It is Common Core aligned and goes along well with the Georgia Standards of Excellence area and volume unit. The resource includes note pages with examples, a quiz, and teacher keys for the entire unit. The topics for the notes include area of rectangles and parallelograms, area of triangles and other polygons, area of complex figures, nets (4 foldable nets), solids, surface area, and volume. The quiz is 10 questions revolving around area of polygons. There are also teacher keys for all the notes pages as well as for the quiz. The notes and teacher keys also try to help the students understand why the formulas are what they are and give helpful hints for how to teach certain concepts. In addition there is a table of contents page and vocabulary page the students can put into their interactive notebook so they can refer to it when looking back for specific topics.
