This maze affords students the opportunity to practice creating equations from situations/verbal descriptions, tables, and graphs in a much more fun way than a tradition worksheet!

For the maze, the answer each student gets for every problem, leads them to the next problem. My students really enjoy this and many prefer it over the traditional drill practice.

All equations are in the form y = x + b and y = kx, with some fractions and decimals used.

An answer key to the maze is included.

Use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another; write an equation to express one quantity, thought of as the dependent variable, in terms of the other quantity, thought of as the independent variable. Analyze the relationship between the dependent and independent variables using graphs and tables, and relate these to the equation. For example, in a problem involving motion at constant speed, list and graph ordered pairs of distances and times, and write the equation π₯ = 65π΅ to represent the relationship between distance and time.
Solve real-world and mathematical problems by writing and solving equations of the form πΉ + π± = π² and π±πΉ = π² for cases in which π±, π² and πΉ are all nonnegative rational numbers.
