Product Description
“Solving the Recorder Mystery” is a growing recorder method that breaks down learning how to play the recorder into tiny, easy-to-comprehend pieces. The (slightly silly) mystery theme with sound effects keep my students' attention, make them laugh, and keep them practicing when they go home! I give my eager students the YouTube links for practice on their free time and use the PowerPoint/PDF files in THIS resource for teaching in class. I suggest doing the same in your class! Click here for the free YouTube version of Mission 6!

In Mission 6, I REVEAL THE HIDDEN STAIRCASE on the recorder. This mission teaches students how to move down step-by-step on the recorder and how to read music easier by connecting the finger movements to the sound and look of the pitches. This video is about 10 minutes long.

SPECIAL NOTE: This lesson uses the "practice F" fingering (thumb 123.4). While this fingering makes F out of tune, I have done this purposefully so they can begin to understand the science of sound, i.e. the more holes you cover, the lower the pitch. In an upcoming episode, I will be teaching the real fingering for F.

Mission 2: Deciphering the Recorder Code (TpT)
Mission 3: Decoding B (TpT)
Mission 4: Decoding A (TpT)
Mission 5: Decoding G (TpT)
Mission 6: Revealing the Hidden Staircase (TpT)
