I am excited to offer this set of 7 *editable* classroom hand signals! These are the signs that I use in my classroom, and they have proven to be very effective in maximizing teaching time!
**6/08/15 Update! I have added another version of the posters that are full page for quick and easy printing. They are available with colored frames and black and white frames. This version is not editable.**
Whether I am teaching whole-class, in groups, or working with a student individually, I can easily and fluidly respond to the different needs of my students without having to stop and start.
These signs use sign language letters to represent various classroom needs. Many teachers use numbers as signs, but I find that using a letter to correspond to the need helps me (and my students) to remember the signs more easily. Besides, they're learning a little bit of sign language in the process--a few letters anyway.
This product includes two items: a PDF with the signs as individual slides (including some fun graphics) and a PowerPoint of the slides without graphics for editing purposes. Here you can alter or create signs to suit your own classroom needs! Within the PowerPoint, I also included some tips on how to create your own signs in the same style as mine. I hope they are helpful!
The 7 letters and corresponding meanings included are as follows:
--I: Question (as in "I" have a question)
--Y: Me too (this one includes movement, as you can see in the picture)
I also included a fun sign that says, "We use hand signals so we don't distract from learning!" that goes along nicely with the signs themselves.
