The following 7 worksheets were used in a high school environmental science class, used consecutively, with the first being close to the school, and each one going further away from the school such as to a local park, if available. They each grow on each other as the observations are encouraged to become more precise while also comparing to what they observed or learned from the last time they did this assignment. I tended to use them every Friday for the first 7 Fridays of the school year. On Mondays, we would review their responses anonymously, having others in the class critique their observations in order to get students to be more precise in their drawings or writings. Observation #5 is a “Weather Scavenger Hunt” and can be used whenever. However, I used it as the first observation at the furthest location so as to get the students comfortable in the new location.
