I have created a song to help my first graders know what to do when they are stuck when they're reading. This little song is sung to the tune, If You're Happy and You Know It. I project this up on my Smartboard, and we sing along. Because our school teaches d'nealian print, I have created this presentation with that font. I have used clipart through Microsoft Office.
The reading strategies included with this are: Look at the picture, Check to see if the word makes sense, Get your mouth ready, Check to see if the word looks right, Reread, Check that the word sounds right, and Look for Chunks. I used the clipart as a visual for the strategy.
If you have any trouble figuring out the rhythm for any of the lines, just ask, and I'll try to help you out! I have another version in Comic Sans if you do not use d'nealian.
I hope you enjoy this song as much as we do! Thanks for looking!
