In classes with good tone, or weak tone, students love to look at communication skills through the dysfunctional eyes of the “curmudgeon.”
HIT HERE FOR VIDEO DESCRIPTION OF THIS PRODUCT
Students especially enjoy this poster
that displays humorous curmudgeon secrets, that correspond to an article they read and discuss.
Some faculty like to display the Curmudgeon poster in their classroom or staff rooms
as a trigger for talking about tone skills that work best to build and sustain strong learning communities.
The task cards included allow students to create their own communication situations,
after reading the article. They can complete communication tasks in whole class discussions, as individuals or in teams.
To see the evidence of their tone growth students track their progress
through a survey included. They enjoy scoring their tone skills and then learning what to expect from the scores they obtained. They also see how to improve tone throughout this lesson.
Students and faculty will discover key neuro facts that impact communication,
and find ways to practice finer communication tools.
Finally, students read and discuss an essay on good communication
skills and compare these to skills they possess.
