Over the past couple of years, I have come up with 70 journal/free-write questions and topics. I typically have students write their responses to these on Fridays- "Freewrite Fridays." I have found the informal nature of these questions has helped my students learn to enjoy writing and become more creative with their writing. Students spend about 10-15 minutes writing their responses, and we spend about 10-15 minutes sharing these responses together as a class. Here are some examples of the questions/topics in this product:
*What is your favorite room in your home and why?
*Think about the fads of your childhood. What was your favorite one and why? Describe this fad. (For me it was Beanie Babies!)
*Describe the best snow day/day off of school you ever had. What did you do?
*What color do you think symbolizes the word “happiness”? Explain.
*What was the best present you ever got? Use description!
*It is said that the opposite of love is not hate, but the feeling of indifference. What do you think this means and do you agree with this?
I am continuously thinking up new journal topics and questions and adding them to the list!
Thank you and enjoy!
