These questions are based on the content of the popular mythology book D’Aulaires Book of Greek Myths. I use this book with my 6th grade classes and my students always enjoy reviewing the material with a round of quiz bowl. The questions are detailed enough that we continue to use them for review in 7th and 8th grade.
The rounds are categorized according to likely reading assignments. When changes in topic occur mid-round, they are clearly marked. To appeal to the keener mythologists a little extra detail is occasionally included, but for the most part all questions are answerable if one has read the text. For editable versions of these questions, in multiple choice format, see my D'Aulaires Greek Myths Mega 630 Multiple Choice Bundle.
GAMEPLAY: Students play in teams of 1 to 4. If no buzzer system is available, students can tap on the desk or use a mobile device to generate a buzzer noise. Each Toss-Up is worth 10 points and must be answered by only the individual who buzzed. Teams may consult on Bonuses, and each is worth 5 points. A round of 20 Toss-Ups usually takes 20-30 minutes to complete.
