Students will work in pairs or groups to solve 12 puzzles. Each puzzle represents a constant of proportionality. Students must correctly identify the constant of proportionality and then match the graphs, tables, verbal descriptions, and equations that share the same K-value.
Set 1: (4 puzzles) Constant of proportionality as a whole number/Integer
Set 2: (4 puzzles)Constant of Proportionality as a fraction
Set 3: (4 Puzzles)Constant of proportionality as a decimal
Students will analyze either the graphs or tables to determine if they are either proportional or not proportional. 7.RP

Puzzle Set 1: (16 puzzles/graphs) Graphs will be matched with “proportional” or “not proportional”
Puzzle Set 2: (16 puzzles/tables) Students must check the k-value to determine if table represents a proportional relationship. Tables will be matched with “proportional” or “not proportional”
The purpose of this activity is for students to analyze proportional graphs, identify the unit rate from the graphs, and write an equation for the graph in the form y = kx.
This Product Contains 1 puzzle set + proportional Graphs Guided Notes
Puzzle Set: (16 puzzles/graphs) Students will analyze graphs to match the proportional graphs with the unit rate in the form (1, r), where r is the unit rate. Then match the unit rate with its equation, y = kx.
Proportional Graph Guided Notes: Students determine the characteristics of a proportional and non-proportional graph. Students will identify the unit rate from the graph and write it in the form (1, r), where r is the unit rate. Lastly, students will write equations that represent the graph).
The purpose of this activity is for students to write equations of proportional tables/graphs using the given variables. Students must also be able to write a verbal description of the unit rate. 7.RP
Puzzle Set: 12 puzzles Students will analyze proportional graphs/tables to determine the equation that matches the relationship between the two quantities(students must use given variables).
In the answer sheet: students must write down what each variable represents. Students must also give a written description of the unit rate.
Answer Key is provided. Sample verbal descriptions of the unit rate are given but student answers may vary.
