This is a cooperative learning problem that allows students to pair up by creating pairs. A pair consists of a student with a verbal problem that matches the corresponding proportion. The two students then sit down, work the proportion, and answer all questions from the verbal problem.
The teacher can then have the students present their problem/answer.....or just repeat the process as time allows to see how many problems they get done in a class period.
Problem types: tax, mark ups and mark downs, fees, commission, percent error, percent increase and decrease, etc.
