Product Description
This is a 7th Grade English Language Arts lesson designed to help students understand the purpose of transition words including clear steps to determine the relationship between sentences and select an appropriate word. The lesson begins with a do now to review group roles and responsibilities, which serves as a helpful reminder for group work that happens in the classroom.

The lesson begins with an Extended Do Now on group roles. There are guided notes and 6 multiple choice questions.

After, there is a stop and jot hook to transition students to think about transition words. There is a quick reference table with the most frequently used transition words (including the relationship the transition words show), followed by 10 multiple-choice practice questions, and a 5-question exit ticket over both standards.

Standards covered include:
1. SWBAT identify transition words and will use them in a sentence for logical sequencing.
2. SWBAT identify a group’s most probable role given an example of one member’s responsibilities.

All answers are included in Microsoft Comments. The Zip file includes a PDF student copy, PDF teacher copy, and a Microsoft Word document.
