This Connect Four game is intended for 7th grade middle school math classrooms and focuses on area. Students answer questions as they try to become the first player to connect four consecutive spaces on their game board. The game is played in small groups or partners (2-6 players).
Specific concepts include finding the area of triangles, trapezoids, circles, semicircles, and basic composite figures.
*Note: Cards can easily be omitted from game play if there are specific types of problems that you don't cover with your students.

In the Connect Four game, students flip over a playing card and must solve the problem on the card. Once a student gets their answer, they must cover up that answer on their board. The first person to get four in a row wins the game.
This activity is great as a small group activity or as a math center.
