This is one of my favorite activities to do as an end of the year review, and its really easy to set up! There are 24 math questions modeled on the STAAR test to prepare the students for the test and for them to have fun! Topics include: Probability, Similar Figures, Two-step Equations and Inequalities, Constant Speed, Unit Rates, Volume and Surface Area, Graphs, Percents, and Tax and Tip!
To set up the activity I like to print three or four sets of the problems the night before and fill the eggs. Then the morning I am doing the activity I hide all the eggs myself with a few student helpers :) After that it is a breeze, because the students will fill and hide the eggs for you! Here is a breakdown of the timing for the activity (50 min classes)
Describe the activity, set expectations and walk to egg hunting area (5 min)
Hunt for Easter Eggs (10 min)
Solve Problems, Give out prizes (20 min)
Refill eggs, walk to egg hunting area and hide eggs (15 min)
Release from egg hunting area :)
I have the students solve the problems on scratch paper and reward them once they solve the problems (I don't put the prize in the egg, because then they won't solve the problems) I keep a stack of extra problems printed and cut for early finishers or to replace problems that are lost.
That's it! I know your kiddos will love it!
