This product will save you time as you introduce ratios and proportional relationships with guided examples. Students will stay engaged as they must fill in the missing parts of notes and examples.
The students will determine the unit rate of a ratio of two fractions. Three different representations of proportional relationships will be covered - tables, graphs, and equations. Students will find the constant of proportionality and interpret the meaning of points on the graph of a proportional relationship.
1st Activity – Find unit rates involving fractions. Guided notes and examples, check for understanding, and independent practice are included.
2nd Activity - This lesson is on recognizing a proportional relationship between quantities given as a table, graph or equation. Students will identify the unit rate and learn that this value is the constant of proportionality. Independent practice is included.
3rd Activity – The teacher must lead students in guided practice of writing an equation of a proportional relationship. They will identify points on a graph and explain what that point means in the situation. Independent practice is included.
