Product Description

A crazy magician came to your school to put on a "show" for your class. Little did you know, the chains he used to lock you and your friends inside the room are REAL. The only way to break out is to unlock the codes by solving his clues. But be careful! This magician loves to play tricks. Nothing is as it first appears!

This resource can be used in TWO ways! It is an ELA TEST PREP digital escape room and can be used as a single web page designed to mimic a scavenger hunt, OR as a single web page escape with LIVE SCAVENGER HUNT elements. You will choose the version that works best for you!

Students will have to unlock rooms by answering questions and breaking a code for 3 separate passages from the NC Released End of Grade Exam for 7th Grade.

In this room, students must LOCATE the clues and then FIGURE OUT how to SOLVE them. This room is challenging, because students MUST find the correct answers to the questions and then find the correct way to code them.

This room Includes:

  1. Difficult and Intermediate versions of the Test Prep Digital Escape
  2. A link to the Released NC ELA End of Grade Assessment for 7th Grade
  3. Doors for 1 Nonfiction text, 1 Fiction text, and 1 Poem
  4. 3 Picture Scavenger Hunt Clues related to the texts
  5. Active and Digital Versions of the Scavenger Hunt elements (Active version will take students to the school office, the entrance to the restroom, and to the book Wonder by RJ Palacio in your classroom or school library.)
  6. 3 “codes” for students to use to unlock rooms
  7. A 3-door escape Google form where students will input answers

This room could take anywhere from 1 to 3 class periods, depending on the student. When we do these escape rooms, we do one right after the other. I start with the grade level below my grade level for my inclusion class and work up to one or two grade levels above with my advanced classes. We do escape rooms for the entire 2 weeks before testing, and it is honestly most of my students’ favorite time of the year. Some students will get through every room I have, and others will get through 2 or 3. If you choose to just do this one, that is fine! Just be prepared for students to finish at different times.

Please Note: The entire released test linked is NOT printable! If your students take a paper pencil exam and need to write directly on the document for practice, that is NOT available with this resource. Students will see exactly what is linked here when they are reading the passages and answering questions, and they will have to work with it in the form you see here. If you feel this is NOT user friendly for your students, this escape room will not be a good fit for your class. Please preview the link before you purchase! :)
