This writing goals chart makes it easy to see which writing goal each student is working on. It also serves as a reminder for the students who may have forgotten their goal. I write the students’ names on clothes pins (you can also use numbers) and students can move their clothes pin after they have reached their goal. They do this by writing a reflection, and having a writing conference with me. Students do not have to have published their piece of writing before they move on to another goal, they just have to show me evidence they have completed their goal. We then discuss their next goal, and they move their pin.
To make this chart, cut along the dotted lines, laminate and hang with binder clips. There are two versions of this chart, one with standards and one without. Feel free to put the goals in any order, and use as few or as many goals as you would like at a time. I have also included a blank sheet so you are able to write your own goals.
This chart goes with my FREE CUPS and Writing Process charts.
