Product Description
This 14-slide PowerPoint lesson aligns with CCSS.Math.Content.7.NS.A.1.c and explains how to subtract integers. It grows through subtracting two positive numbers, a positive and a negative (where a is greater than b and where a is less than b), and two negative numbers. It introduces the acronym "SMATO" Subtract Means Add The Opposite". It has multiple practice problems for each scenario, visual examples, and opportunities for students to act out things on a number line, if the teacher chooses.

It is an opportunity for a teacher to integrate technology into the classroom. It also may offer a different explanation on subtracting integers for students who have trouble understanding a "traditional" method.

This file is in PowerPoint Show (.ppsx) format and requires PowerPoint 2010 to run appropriately. You may be able to run it with earlier versions of the program. If you would like a compatibility version of the product, please email me at madeyemoodyproductions@yahoo.com for details.
