This lesson should be used after 8. EE. A1 - Exponents Intro (positive and negative exponents). It is a PwrPt that walks students through the difference between negative bases with and without parenthesis. Vocabulary and positive bases are briefly reviewed. Students can use this on their own, as a whole group, or in small groups. this can be totally student directed and they are self-assessing! As they are directed to answer problems in their notebooks, they are then directed to check their answers on the PwrPt. The slide will then direct them to the apporpriate next slide based on the number of correct answers. This PwrPt will differentiate for students based on the number of answers they got correct. The final slide for those who understand the topic is left open-ended so teachers can fill-in their own instructions for what students can do next. This is also a great resource for parents to use at home, for remediation, or for absent students to catch up. In addition to this, it can be used in a flipped classroom model! Students can go at their own pace. There is no audio so it is great for students who struggle to process information they hear. Any questions or adjustments you need to be made can be sent to me at Lynz@thetreadwells.com.
