Activity Descriptions:

There are two versions of this activity. In version 1, students begin with a verb form and find the subject/infinitive. In version 2, students begin with subject/infinitive and find the verb form.

Begin by cutting the verb form/infinitive pairs on the dotted line. There will be 20 strips. Place these slips of paper around the room in random places and in a random order. They can be placed on tables or desks or posted in various places.

Students work in pairs of two. Each group gets a copy of the “1:Forme→Infinitif” or “2: Infintif→Forme” sheet depending on the version that you are using.

Version 1 (Forme→Infinitif):

Groups choose a verb form to begin on one of the slips of paper around the room. Groups can begin with any verb form because the hunt will make a loop. Try not to have more than one group begin with the same verb form.

Groups search the slips of paper around the room for the subject/infinitive/verb tense that corresponds to the verb form that they chose. When they find the subject/infinitive there is a number under it. They find this number on their sheet and write the subject/infinitive that identifies the verb form next to the number.

Groups then continue the activity with the verb form to the right of the subject/infinitive that they found. When all of the numbers on the sheet are identified the scavenger hunt is complete.

Version 2 (Infinitif→Forme):

Groups choose a subject/infinitive to begin on one of the slips of paper around the room. Groups can begin with any subject/infinitive/verb tense because the hunt will make a loop. Try not to have more than one group begin with the same subject/infinitive.

Groups search the slips of paper around the room for the verb form that corresponds to the subject/infinitive that they chose. When they find the verb form there is a number under it. They find this number on their sheet and write the verb form next to the number.

Groups then continue the activity with the subject/infinitive/verb tense to the right of the verb form that they found. When all of the numbers on the sheet are identified the scavenger hunt is complete.
