This lesson shows students how to accurately solve equations with variables on both sides of the equals. Conceptual understanding of why variables must be either removed or added to both sides of the equals is shown by using a scale example and algebra tiles. Common errors are also discussed to help avoid common misconceptions about multi-step equations compared to variable on both sides equations.
