This "ink relief" version of the assessment is easy on the printer! Just print all sheets and put in a binder. Make a class set of the assessment sheets to keep in the assessment section of your binder.
The sheets include The First 40 Words (Aug-Dec), then 24 words for the last two quarters in the year(there are 16 lists in all) . Send the first page home at the beginning of the year asking parents to assist with learning the lists of words aligned to Journeys 2014. Students practice a word list until they know it, then they bring the sheet back with the character at the bottom of the list colored (this indicates they are ready to take an assessment on the list). They earn points or a treat for each list learned, and have their photo taken on @Seesaw for parents to view immediately. This system works well because students take ownership of reminding parents to help at home in order to earn extra tech time, extra recess, prizes and more.
Practice and Color Lists
Whole Class Assessment Summary Sheets
Word Cards to print and laminate for each list of words.
I keep each list's set of cards in a zipper seal bag in the pockets of the binder. Cards are shuffled, then the student reads them off to you.
