In this high-interest, engaging problem, students must analyze a function represented by an equation and another function represented by a table. They must be able to compare the rates of change, the y-intercepts, and connect each back to the context of the problem. Students discover that even though Spiderman is moving at a faster rate, the Green Goblin has a big enough head start that he beats Spiderman to their destination.
At the end of this problem, students are challenged to revise one of the functions to change the outcome.
