Frustrated of searching for graphs that count by something other than 1 on the x- and y-axes?? Here are 5 graphs with varying intervals, perfect to help your students get the practice finding slope and unit rates that they need to be common core ready.
In each time-distance graph, students use the slope to determine the speed at which someone is traveling. They must then determine a method of transportation that could match the speed (walking, biking, driving, etc).
These problems work great as a worksheet—but you could also drive up engagement by using the Solve ‘N Pass cooperative learning structure. Solve ‘n Pass is designed to give students multiple opportunities for independent practice with a particular skill. At the same time, it gives them a high level of structure for analyzing one another’s work and coaching each other. You will have 100% engagement and meet all students at their instructional level!
