If you just finished teaching a geography unit, why not try this engaging, authentic assessment instead of a boring test?
• Assesses a wide range of geography knowledge and skills. Includes an assignment outline and rubric for each group member’s individual role.
• Students will need to apply everything they have learned in a geography unit to successfully complete this project.
• Assign roles to students based on their abilities and talents. Students who are better artists than writers, for example, would be assigned the “green” role. Students will work together within groups to support each other in areas of weakness.
• All students are assigned specific tasks so that everyone in the group is contributing to the project in important ways. The project also leaves lots of room for students to have fun and be creative.
